Adele’s Rolling in the Deep and more

I’m not actually a fan, fan of Adele. Like a lot of people, I know her through her mainstream songs such as Chasing Pavements and Make Me Feel My Love. So I didn’t expect to be blown away by her song “Rolling in the Deep,” which is also the first track out of her second album “21.”

The song starts with a beat that will immediately catch your attention. Then you will hear that powerful voice (and I say powerful because it has that intensity at  the beginning of the track) that compels you to focus all your senses to the emotions Adele is singing about. Then the  drumbeats get louder. You start swaying your head, closing your eyes, tapping your feet. Boom! You’re transported to Adele’s world. Every word reaching your soul, piercing your heart. You no longer care if you are inside a public transport system (read: train). Who cares? Adele is singing, time stops.

So after hearing Rolling in the Deep and watching its video as well (it was fantastic —the glasses, the water; then the shattering of the glasses, the water again and Adele’s voice! Such beauty! And she’s so elegant in that video, so poised!),  I’m hooked. I downloaded the song and make it part of my play list during my commute. And did I mention she has a powerful voice? The world around you seems to be in standstill as you hear her singing those words. Wow. I also love “Someone Like You” (“Never mind I’ll find someone like you! I wish nothing but the best of you, too.”), Turn Table and Set Fire to the Rain (“I’ll set fire to the rain, watch it burn while I touch you’re face.”).  It’s no wonder she topped Billboard 200.

And another thing I like about the album? She sings ballads but since they are so compelling, you don’t find yourself sleepy at all! Perfect for keeping me awake during the afternoons I don’t like to be bombarded with fast, pounding, rock music because I need to stay up.

Wow. I think I have another album on repeat in my player.
